Source and Background
Kil’jaeden created a suit of armor to control Ner’zhul, including the Crown of Dominance, aimed at containing Ner’zhul’s soul. Later, Arthas defeated Illidan and arrived at the Frozen Throne. He shattered the ice prison with Frostmourne and obtained the helmet and breastplate of Ner’zhul’s soul possession. After putting on the helmet, he became the new Lich King
