Description

Historical origin: The Tang horizontal sword originated in the Sui and Tang dynasties and was one of the swords worn by soldiers at that time. It was an integrated product of sword forging techniques since the Han and Jin dynasties, while also absorbing the style of Western region swords.
Material characteristics
High strength and toughness: High manganese steel has high strength and good toughness, which can withstand large impact forces without easily breaking. It performs well in actions such as chopping and blocking, and is not prone to blade fracture.
Good wear resistance: This characteristic makes the blade, especially the cutting edge, less prone to wear and tear, notches, and other issues during long-term use or multiple displays, maintaining a good appearance and performance, and maintaining the sharpness of the blade.
Certain corrosion resistance: Under normal use and storage conditions, high manganese steel has a certain degree of corrosion resistance, is not easy to rust, and can maintain the metallic luster of the sword body for a long time, reducing the difficulty and frequency of maintenance.
exterior design
Blade: Usually designed with a straight body, the lines are simple and smooth, giving people a sense of antiquity and solemnity. The blade has been finely polished and is incredibly sharp, shining with a metallic luster. The length of the blade is generally around 70 centimeters to 100 centimeters, with a blade length of about 60 centimeters to 80 centimeters, a width between 3 centimeters and 4 centimeters, and a thickness of about 0.5 centimeters to 0.8 centimeters. The specific dimensions may vary depending on the style.
Knife handle: It is often made of wooden materials, and the surface may be wrapped with silk or leather to increase grip friction and comfort, while also serving a certain decorative purpose. The shape of the handle is usually cylindrical or flat circular, with a length of about 20 to 30 centimeters. There may be metal decorative parts at the connection with the sword body, such as the sword frame, handle head, etc. These decorative parts may be carved with exquisite patterns, such as dragon and phoenix patterns, cloud patterns, and gluttony patterns.
Sheath: Generally based on wood, wrapped in a layer of leather or painted on the outside, with traditional colors such as black and brown, appearing calm and atmospheric. The scabbard may be embedded with metal ornaments such as a sword nose, a sword spear, etc. Some may also carve or draw patterns or texts related to the sword, such as the sword name, dynasty emblem, etc.
Craftsmanship
Forging: Heat high manganese steel to a high temperature state, and through repeated forging processes such as hammering and folding, make the internal structure of the steel more dense and uniform, eliminate impurities and bubbles, and improve the strength and toughness of the sword body.
Heat treatment: Quenching, tempering and other heat treatment operations are carried out on the forged sword body. Quenching is the process of heating the sword body to an appropriate temperature and quickly placing it in a cooling medium to achieve high hardness. Tempering is the process of heating the sword body to a lower temperature and holding it for a period of time after quenching, in order to eliminate quenching stress, improve the toughness of the sword body, and achieve a good balance between hardness and toughness.
Grinding and Polishing: After heat treatment, the sword body needs to be finely ground and polished. First, rough grinding tools are used to remove surface oxide and forging marks, and then finer grinding tools are gradually used for polishing, making the surface of the sword body smooth as a mirror and the blade edge extremely sharp.
Functional purpose
Martial arts practice: Due to its good resilience and weight balance, it is suitable for martial arts practice and performance, which can help practitioners better master knife techniques and improve their martial arts skills.
Collection Decoration: Exquisite exterior design and unique historical and cultural connotations make it a collectible craft that can be used for home, office, or exhibition decoration, showcasing the owner’s cultural taste and unique temperament.
Film and television props: Often used as props in the filming and production of historical themed films, costume dramas, or anime games to create a more authentic historical atmosphere for the works.
