Description

workmanship
Forging: Heating steel to a high-temperature plastic state, using manual forging or machine forging, repeated hammering and pressing, removing impurities, refining grains, making the metal structure dense and uniform, forming a unique forging texture, and enhancing the strength and toughness of the knife.
Heat treatment: including quenching, tempering and other processes, heating the forged blade to a specific temperature, quickly cooling it with coolant, and then tempering it. The temperature and cooling rate are precisely controlled to achieve the desired hardness and toughness of the blade, making it sharper and achieving optimal performance.
Carving and Decoration: Carving is performed on the blade, handle, or scabbard, using techniques such as relief carving and translucent carving to vividly depict the patterns of peonies, showcasing their beauty and luxury. In addition, techniques such as gemstone inlay and gold inlay may be used to further enhance the artistic value and grandeur of the cutting tools.
Grinding and polishing: After multiple grinding and polishing processes, from coarse grinding to fine grinding, different grit grinding tools such as sandpaper, grinding wheel, and oilstone are used to smooth the surface of the blade, remove burrs, defects, and forging marks, and make the blade appear metallic luster, with a sharp edge like a mirror, enhancing the beauty and practicality of the tool.
Design Features
Blade: Usually retains the classic shape of Tang horizontal knives, with a slender blade, single-sided cutting, beautiful curvature, sharp tip, and smooth lines, reflecting the delicacy and elegance of Tang knives, while also facilitating cutting and piercing movements. The surface of the blade may have exquisite peony pattern carvings, or special forging techniques may be used to form texture patterns related to peonies.
Handle: Made of rosewood, the shape conforms to ergonomics, providing comfortable grip and easy control. The surface of the handle is often wrapped with silk threads or wrapped in mermaid skin to increase friction and prevent slipping. At both ends or in the middle of the handle, metal ornaments such as copper peony pattern decorative pieces may be embedded, echoing the peony element on the blade.
Sheath: Also made of rosewood as the main body, the surface has been carefully polished and painted, smooth and shiny. The scabbard will also be carved with peony patterns, which are consistent with the carving style of the blade, forming an overall aesthetic. Part of the scabbard will also be embedded with metal frames or gemstones, enhancing the elegance of the scabbard and highlighting the unique value of the tool.
