Description
Crafting process
Forging: The T10 steel billet is heated to a high temperature by the craftsman, and then repeatedly forged, through continuous hammering and folding, to remove the impurities in the steel, so that the steel is more dense and uniform, forming a unique forging texture, and improving the strength and toughness of the sword.
Burning edge: Using the clay burning process, the surface of the sword blank is coated with special clay, and the thickness of the clay in different parts is retained according to the design, and then heated to about 1200 degrees, and then quickly put into cold water for quenching. Due to the thermal insulation effect of the clay, different parts of the sword body are cooled at different rates, resulting in the formation of a high-hardness martensitic structure at the cutting edge, and the back of the knife retains good toughness, while producing a beautiful burn line.
Grinding: After multiple grinding processes, the sword body is finely ground using grinding stones with different meshes from coarse to fine, so that the surface of the sword body is smooth as a mirror, and the blade is extremely sharp, and at the same time, the forging texture and burnt edge pattern are clearly displayed.
Assembly: Assemble the made sword body with the hilt and scabbard wrapped in fish skin, and install copper equipment to ensure that the parts are closely integrated and the overall structure of the sword is stable.
Design
Blade: The blade length is usually about 70 cm, and the common overall length is about 103 cm, including the handle length of about 26 cm. It narrows radially from the lattice to the tip of the sword, thins axially, and has a diamond-shaped or similar cross-section, with a natural forging texture and a clear burnt edge pattern on the sword.
Hilt: Generally cylindrical or slightly oval in shape to fit the hand grip. The surface is wrapped with fish skin, and then wrapped with silk or cotton thread to form a handle roll to increase the comfort and stability of the hold. Some hilts will have metal fittings at the end, such as a brass shank, which serves as a decorative and balancing effect.
Scabbard: Mostly wooden, covered with fish skin, echoing the hilt. The sheath and sheath may have copper edging for added durability and aesthetics. Some scabbards also come with rings or other accessories for easy wearing and hanging.
Performance characteristics:
Sharpness: After burning and fine grinding, T10 steel has a very high sharpness on the edge, which can easily cut all kinds of items, and is one of the sharpest swords in cold weapons.
Toughness: Reasonable forging and heat treatment processes make the sword not only have a high hardness cutting edge, but also have good toughness, which can withstand a certain degree of bending and vibration, and is not easy to break or chip.
Balance: In the design and production, pay attention to the distribution of the center of gravity, and the center of gravity is generally close to the position of the sword grid, so that the sword is more balanced and stable when holding and swinging, which is convenient for users to exert their strength and skills, whether it is chopping, slashing, stabbing and other actions can be more handy.
Cultural Significance and Use
Cultural significance: The sword has a special symbolic meaning in many cultures, often regarded as a symbol of power, honor, and justice, carrying people’s spiritual pursuits and cultural traditions.
