Common-Sense Katana Care:
A sword generally consists of three parts: blade, scabbard, and accessories. The main part, the blade, is primarily made of iron, steel, and copper. The scabbard is made of wood. To prevent rust, it should not be stored in a humid environment or in contact with acidic and salty substances. Contact with bare hands should also be avoided, as sweat can corrode the surface. The surface of blades made of medium carbon steel, high carbon steel, and pattern-welded steel (Damascus steel) should be coated with anti-rust oil.
